If a material needs a binder, a flavouring or a preservative to be interesting, then it isn't. Our five products don't have a long ingredient list: they are the ingredient.
About Vitalipets
We don't manufacture anything. We select.
Vitalipets is a French brand of natural dog chews. Our job isn't to invent recipes, but to find — and then check — the best raw materials nature already produces.
It all started with a Labrador called Osso, a leather sofa and a pair of shoes. Like many owners, we urgently needed something to occupy a very energetic jaw.
The pet shop aisles left us puzzled: “beef” sticks containing 4% beef, “natural bones” with an arm-long ingredient list, colourings in treats that dogs can't even see in colour.
So we looked at what dogs have always chewed, before the industry got involved: bone, wood, dried cheese. Simple, hard materials that last.
Vitalipets grew out of that realisation. Today our range is five products long — and we would rather keep it short. Every item has to earn its place.
We sell through Amazon because that's where our customers are, with logistics and after-sales support we couldn't match on our own. This site is here to explain everything before you buy.
Four non-negotiable principles
They decide, every single time a new product is considered.
Nothing taken unnecessarily
Deer shed their antlers every year, olive trees are pruned every winter, coffee plants are replanted every twenty years. We use what already exists rather than creating new demand.
Safety before performance
We reject materials that splinter. Every piece is hand-sanded with no sharp edges, and we would rather quote an honest chewing time than a marketing record.
Saying it how it is
No chew suits every dog. We would rather talk you out of a product and earn your trust than sell you the wrong one and lose both.
Where our materials come from
Each product family has its own supply chain, its own season and its own constraints. Here is what we can say precisely.
- Deer antler: collected in the forest after antlers are naturally shed, which happens every year at the end of winter. No animal is killed or disturbed. Our antlers come from European forest areas.
- Yak cheese: made in the Himalayan regions of Nepal from yak and cow milk, curdled with lime juice, salted, pressed, then smoked and dried for several weeks. A traditional recipe that is centuries old.
- Olive wood: from the annual pruning of Mediterranean olive groves. The cut branches, which would otherwise be shredded or burned, are selected, stripped of bark and slowly dried.
- Coffee wood: recovered from coffee plants that have reached the end of their productive life, in South-East Asia. Plantations are replanted regularly; we make use of the wood that results.
None of our materials is chemically treated, varnished, oiled or bleached.

We work with a small number of collectors and producers, chosen for consistent quality rather than volume.
Cleaning and drying
Every piece is washed with water, slowly dried and then stabilised. No chemical treatment, no preservatives.
Cutting and sanding
Pieces are graded by size, then hand-sanded to remove any sharp edge or potential splinter.
Checking and shipping
Visual inspection of every batch, bagging, then shipping to the Amazon warehouses your orders leave from.
