An ingredient list one line long
Deer antler. Cheese. Wood. That's it. No flour, no binders, no synthetic flavourings, no added sugar — so nothing that can trigger an intolerance.
One ingredient. Nothing else.
Deer antler, yak cheese, olive wood, coffee wood: five chews straight from nature, with no additives, no colourings and no preservatives. They keep your dog busy for hours, look after their teeth and satisfy their need to chew.
Four questions, forty seconds. You get the material, the precise size, and above all the reason — including when the answer is “none, not yet”.
Why Vitalipets
A dog that chews is a dog that relaxes. We picked the simplest materials we could find: things nature already makes, left exactly as they are.
Deer antler. Cheese. Wood. That's it. No flour, no binders, no synthetic flavourings, no added sugar — so nothing that can trigger an intolerance.
Chewing mechanically scrubs the enamel and slows plaque build-up. It's the most natural dental routine there is — and the only one your dog asks for.
Chewing releases endorphins and brings tension down. Perfect for bored dogs, dogs left alone during the day, or dogs that struggle to settle in the evening.
Olive wood and coffee wood fray into soft fibres instead of breaking into sharp splinters. Antler wears down by abrasion, millimetre by millimetre.
Antlers are collected after deer naturally shed them. Olive wood comes from annual pruning, coffee wood from plants at the end of their productive life. No tree and no animal is killed.
A relentless chewer, a senior, a seven-month-old puppy and a small breed don't need the same thing. Our five products cover every profile.
The range
From the softest to the toughest: find the one that matches your dog's jaw — and their character.
The toughest
The longest-lasting chew toy in the range, cut from an antler collected after it was naturally shed.
The most approachable
The same deer antler, split lengthways to expose the marrow. Irresistible from the very first minute.
The tastiest
A centuries-old Himalayan recipe: dried, smoked yak milk, rich in protein. And a popcorn finish.
The most Mediterranean
From the annual pruning of olive groves. It frays into soft fibres instead of splintering.
The most versatile
Dense, light and splinter-free, from coffee plants at the end of their cycle. And not a trace of caffeine.
Three questions place any chew: is it harder than the tooth, what happens to what comes off, and how does it wear.
| Material | Harder than the tooth? | What comes off | Who for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whole deer antler | Right at the limit | Fine particles, never a splinter | Intense chewer, healthy teeth |
| Split deer antler | No | Fine particles | From beginner to crusher |
| Yak cheese | No | Softens, digestible | Light chewer, seniors |
| Olive wood | No | Fine particles, never a splinter | Moderate chewer |
| Coffee wood | No | Fine particles | Moderate chewer, small breeds |
| Rawhide | No | Strips swallowed whole, which swell | Avoid |
| Cooked bone | Yes | Cutting shards | Never |
| Nylon | Yes | Indigestible shavings, invisible on X-ray | Avoid |
| Horn, hooves | Yes | Plates and shells with sharp edges | Avoid |
| Stick from the garden | No | Long splinters, sometimes lethal species | Avoid |
Our five materials appear here with their limits. Whole deer antler is the hardest — that is both its quality and its constraint.
Here's how we suggest choosing, based on how your dog chews rather than on weight alone.
| Your dog's profile | Our recommendation | Why this one | Typical lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|
| First-ever natural chew | Split deer antler | The marrow is exposed, so the dog gets the point within minutes. | 1 to 3 weeks |
| Occasional chewer | Olive wood | Medium hardness, frays gently, mild woody taste. | 2 to 4 weeks |
| Intense, determined chewer | Whole deer antler | The densest material in the range, it stands up to powerful jaws. | 1 to 3 months |
| Fussy or unmotivated dog | Yak cheese | Distinct milky taste, and the last piece turns into crunchy popcorn. | 1 to 2 weeks |
| Small breed, senior dog | Coffee wood (size S) | Light, non-splintering, workable without straining the jaw. | 2 to 4 weeks |
These durations are indicative only and vary hugely from one dog to another. A relentless chewer can cut them by a factor of three.
Our story
Vitalipets started from a simple observation: on the shelves, most chew treats carry a fifteen-line ingredient list for a product that should contain exactly one.
So we approached it the other way round. Instead of manufacturing, we went looking for what already exists in nature and what dogs have always chewed.
Every batch is cleaned, dried, hand-sanded and checked before shipping. Nothing is added. Nothing is hidden.

Safety, lifespan, the right age: the essentials in three answers.
Antler is very dense: that's what makes it last, and it's also what calls for a bit of care. It suits dogs that chew steadily over long sessions, and much less those trying to crack their treat in one bite.
If your dog is a crusher rather than a chewer, go for split antler, olive wood or coffee wood, all noticeably softer. And in every case: supervise the first sessions, and take the chew away once it becomes small enough to swallow.
We recommend waiting until the adult teeth are fully through, at around 6 months, and starting with the softer products: split antler, coffee wood or yak cheese.
Before that age, milk teeth are fragile and about to fall out, so soft teething toys are a better choice.
That depends far more on the dog than on the product. For a medium-sized dog chewing about 20 minutes a day, expect 1 to 3 months for a whole antler, 2 to 4 weeks for olive or coffee wood, 1 to 3 weeks for a split antler and 1 to 2 weeks for yak cheese.
A particularly motivated three-year-old Malinois can halve those figures. That's normal — simply go one size up next time.
No, never. Deer naturally shed their antlers every year at the end of winter and grow them back. Ours are collected from the ground after that natural shedding. It is an entirely renewable resource.
Because we are a small team, and we would rather put our energy into the product than into logistics we would do less well. Amazon picks, ships, handles returns and after-sales care, with delivery times we could not match. This site therefore has no basket: it exists to help you choose the right material and the right size before you buy. It is also why you will find no prices here — they vary by size and by country, and Amazon changes them on its own. A price shown here would be wrong by the time you clicked.
